Expected Weather
In the period Feb – Apr day time is going to be warm and very pleasant. The water is going to be moderately cold and extremely inviting. So you might end up spending more time off the boat than on it. Evenings are going to be moderately cold in Mar & Apr and cold in Feb. Night temperature will be around 17 -20 deg Celsius in Mar - Apr & around 12 – 15 deg Celsius in Feb so come prepared with some winter clothing
In May & Jun day time is going to be quite warm (33 – 38 deg Celsius). While rafting or indulging in any other water activity one will not feel too much of discomfort. Evenings at the camp can be slightly uncomfortable in June and are normally fine in the month of May. One will surely need a fan in the tents and dining area.
In the period Oct to Dec day time is going to be warm and pleasant if the sun is out, which mostly is around this time. The water is going to be cold but not freezing cold. A dip in the river is going to initially feel cold but couple of dips and you will start enjoying the water. Evenings are going to be moderately cold in Oct & Nov and cold in December. With a bonfire next to you it is going to be an enjoyable experience. December the night temperature can go down to about 3 – 5 deg Celsius so come prepared with some winter clothing. Trip Overview
In this action packed rafting trip you start your rafting voyage on the river Alaknanda where you start paddling from the Himalayan ecolodge campsite at Jayalgarh and raft all the way down till Devprayag where the Bhagirati river joins the Alaknanda to make the mighty Ganges. So take a holy dip with a chant of Har Har Gange to end todays trip. In the afternoon you will return to Jayalgarh and spend the night at the beautiful riverside camp
On the second stretch you raft down the upper Alaknanda from the widest valley of the river at Gauchar to the narrow gorges of the Rudraprayag. This particular course is full of white water with varying grades of rapid. Upper alaknanda is a high volume river flowing down a good gradient; resulting in exciting rapids of III + to IV grades. After a action packed day on the river you head back to the campsite at Jayalgarh
The last stretch of the Rafting on the 3rd day on Ganga is an engaging one with almost the whole 25 kms of Ganges crammed with about 13 rapids that will get you on the edge all along. By the time you reach Rishikesh and conclude this trip your thirst for river adventures is sure to be quenched (for the time being though!). During the program, designed by our river experts you will also get an opportunity to indulge in bridge slithering, body-surfing on the rapids, cliff jumping, river crossing etc. at most beautiful locations around two major himalayan rivers.
Big highlight of this trip is the location and facilities of the Himalayan Eco lodges deluxe campsit at Jayalgarh
